Well, this is it, my friends. This is the day I've been dreading for the past year. I'm turning 30 years old today, and I'm quite depressed. I don't want to believe that my twenties are already over. What happened? It went by in the blink of an eye. Is life equally short if I'm lucky enough to turn 60?....
When I look back, I can't say that I regret much, which is a very good thing. In fact, there is only a period of two years right after the end of my marriage that I regret ever happened in that particular way. The rest of my twenties, I think I spent quite well and wouldn't change anything if I had the choice. I traveled to over a dozen countries, partied in every single one of them, made friends in all of them, and thoroughly enjoyed myself in the process. In fact, I just realized that the only time I'm regretting is the time when I simmered in depression, so maybe I shouldn't feel so down on this day. Who knows, maybe my thirties will bring greater experiences yet. I'll let you know. But for right now, I'll be drinking today...
Cheers,

Well dear Infidel, Happy Birthday! My advice to you is to take all what you have learned in your twenties and multiply it in your thirties. You never know, maybe, you will look back and say: I am glad I am in my thirties. Best wishes for a happy life and amazing achievements to come. You deserve the best.

Happy birthday Infidel!
At thirty you are still a baby. I think thirty is the new '21' but better! One has youth, intellect, experience, understanding and compassion; all rolled into being a better person and a better friend.
Enjoy yourself and Cheers.

Infidel, you probably already realized that nothing really happens when you are 30. I had had three months of depression before I entered 30 and now i am already 31 and i dunno nothing changed much:)happy belated birthday!

Thanks, Gamze'cim..... Leos rock!!!!
Ardent,
yes 21 sounds perfect. Thank you for your kind words.
Dba, you're right. The only number that should matter is the small print on my special bottle of "yesil kapakli Efe."
Erkan, you are also correct. I was very happy to see that I had not transformed into an Ogre the next morning. Absolutely nothing happened besides me getting drunk with some soccer buddies and playing "beer pong" and other drinking games of which I can't remember the names anymore. So overall, it was a pretty normal Sunday night for me.

Getting in the habit of paying attention to whether your doors are locked is a good idea.

You have to be happy, because in my opinion when you are 30 years old, you are just beginning the precious part of your life.

The only time I was ever bummed out about my age was when I turned thirty. I was in shock, I just couldn't believe it. But you are 34 now (as I type this) so you must have realized that you're still on solid ground, and the best women are yet to come along.
